Lee Suhyun of AKMU Covers Seiko Matsuda's 'Aoi Sangoshou' for J-POP REMAKE Project

Lee Suhyun, the main vocalist of the Korean duo AKMU, has released a Korean-language cover of Seiko Matsuda's 1980 hit "Aoi Sangoshou" (Blue Coral Reef). The track is the third installment in the J-POP REMAKE project, after TAEYEON's cover of "Bansanka" and HAN RORO's version of "Cruel Angel's Thesis."

The digital single was released globally on August 18. The accompanying music video, directed by Kangnam of SHGold networks, features actress Shin Si-ah and presents a summery, retro aesthetic.

The J-POP REMAKE project pairs classic Japanese songs with contemporary Korean artists. Previous entries, TAEYEON's cover of "Bansanka" and HAN RORO's version of "Cruel Angel's Thesis," charted successfully in Korea.

Producer Kangnam stated the project aims to create new music that resonates with listeners in both Japan and Korea by blending timeless Japanese melodies with Korean artistic sensibilities.
