BLACK TORCH Anime Adds Veteran Cast, Reveals Staff Ahead of July 2026 Premiere

The upcoming anime adaptation of BLACK TORCH has announced three new voice actors for its main cast. Chikao Otsuka will play Manjuro Tokieda, Yuko Kaida will play Tohko Hisumi, and Shinpachi Tsuji will play Hisamasa Wagatsuma.

The series will premiere on Japanese television, including TOKYO MX, on July 4, 2026. The production studio 100studio also revealed additional key staff members, including character designer Go Suzuki and series composer/scriptwriter Juoemon Ichikawa.

The story follows high schooler Niro Wagatsuma, a descendant of ninjas who can speak to animals. His life changes when he encounters a wounded black cat named Rago, who is actually a legendary monster. The cast also includes Ryota Suzuki, Yoji Ueda, Ayaka Sembongi, Junya Enoki, Junichi Suwabe, Rena Ueda, Toshiyuki Morikawa, and Nobuhiko Okamoto.

The anime is produced by 100studio (HIKE Inc.). The studio's previous works include the 2024 film Hurray! and the 2025 series Nakadera-sensei's Monster Lecture Notes.

The original BLACK TORCH manga by Toshiyuki Takaki is published by Shueisha, with five volumes currently available.
