BLACK TORCH Anime Set for July 2026 Premiere by 100studio

The TV anime adaptation of 'BLACK TORCH' will premiere in July 2026, with animation by 100studio. The series is based on the manga by Takaki Tsuyoshi, published by Shueisha, and features new key visuals and a promotional video.

The story follows Jiro Azuma, a high school student raised by his grandfather as a ninja and possessing the ability to communicate with animals. He encounters Rago, a seemingly ordinary black cat, in the forest. However, Rago is revealed to be a legendary Mononoke known as the "Black Calamity." The narrative unfolds as various forces, including the government's secret organization, seek to harness Rago's power.

Key characters include Jiro Azuma, voiced by Ryota Suzuki, and Rago, voiced by Yoji Ueda. The anime is directed by Kei Mabiki, with character design by Go Suzuki and music by Yutaka Yamada. The series composition and script are handled by Jukemon Ichikawa.

100studio previously worked on 'Hurray!' and 'This World is Too Imperfect.'
