HALCALI's Summer Sonic Return Backed by 9.9 Billion TikTok Streams

The duo HALCALI returned to the stage at SUMMER SONIC 2026, their first major festival appearance in 14 years. Their set on the Spotify Stage drew the largest crowd of the day.

HALCA and YUCALI opened with their 2003 debut track "Tandem." Their performance bridged the gap between longtime fans and a new generation who discovered them through TikTok. The set included a special medley of "Electric Sensei," "Marching March," and "Strawberry Chips."

The catalyst for their resurgence is the 2003 album track "Otsukare SUMMER." The song has generated over 9.9 billion video views on TikTok, with more than 7.3 million user-generated videos. It has been used by global K-pop acts including TWICE, SEVENTEEN, LE SSERAFIM, IVE, and NewJeans.

On Spotify, the track nears 100 million streams with monthly listeners exceeding 2 million. It reached No. 2 on Billboard JAPAN's Japan Songs (US) chart and spent 64 weeks on the Global Japan Songs Excl. Japan chart.

The live performance of "Otsukare SUMMER" became the set's highlight, with the entire crowd dancing to the laid-back summer anthem. HALCALI closed with "Giri Giri Surfrider."
