Manga 'Kimi to Uchuu wo Aruku Tame ni' Releases BUMP OF CHICKEN Collaboration Video

The manga Kimi to Uchuu wo Aruku Tame ni has released a special collaboration music video featuring the song Seinto Erumo no Hi (St. Elmo's Fire) by BUMP OF CHICKEN. The video is now available on YouTube.

The manga, which has surpassed one million copies in circulation including digital versions, is celebrating its third anniversary of serialization. The song Seinto Erumo no Hi is from BUMP OF CHICKEN's sixth original album COSMONAUT, released in 2010.

Manga author Doronoda Inuhiko selected the track as a thematic anchor while drawing the first chapter. "I decided this would be my main guidepost," Doronoda said. "All the lyrics resonate with me, but the line 'I hope you don't get hurt climbing this' always fills my chest. I want to keep drawing with that feeling."

The manga follows Koyama, a delinquent high school student, and Uno, a transfer student who struggles with tasks considered "normal." Inspired by Uno's efforts, Koyama decides to change himself.

Doronoda Inuhiko debuted after winning a runner-up prize in the Afternoon Four Seasons Award in 2022. Kimi to Uchuu wo Aruku Tame ni won the Manga Taisho Grand Prize in 2024 and ranked first in the male category of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2025.

Volumes 1 through 6 of Kimi to Uchuu wo Aruku Tame ni are currently on sale. The manga is serialized on Kodansha's web manga site &Sofa.
