Netflix Film 'Super Kaguyahime!' Continues Box Office Run, Announces New Theater Bonuses

The anime film Super Kaguyahime! has earned over 1.68 billion yen at the Japanese box office. It has now ranked in Japan's weekend top 10 for seven consecutive weeks.

The film, a Netflix Original available globally, is directed by Kengo Yamashita and animated by Studio Colorido and Studio Chromato. Its soundtrack features songs from Vocaloid producers, including ryo (supercell), kz(livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot.

In Japan, where the film also has a theatrical run, a fifth wave of audience bonuses begins on April106. It consists of random illustration postcards themed after popular "utattemita" (cover song) videos for tracks like "Torinoko City," "Yume o Miru Shima," and "Tell Your World." A new weekly welcome announcement voiced by characters Ayaha and Yachiyo will also play in theaters from April 10-16.

The film's theatrical release began on February 20 following its Netflix debut. It trended online in Japan, topped Netflix's domestic movie chart, and reached top 10 lists in multiple regions worldwide.

The story follows high schooler Saki Ayaha, who discovers a baby that rapidly grows into a girl named Kaguya. Drawn into the virtual world "Tsukuyomi," Ayaha becomes a producer for Kaguya's live-streaming music career.
