Netflix's 'THE RIBBON HERO' Reveals Third Trailer and VTuber Cast

A third trailer and the voice cast for five new characters have been revealed for Netflix's upcoming anime film 'THE RIBBON HERO', one week before its global release.

The film, based on Osamu Tezuka's classic manga 'Ribbon no Kishi', will premiere worldwide on Netflix on August 8, 2026. The new trailer shows protagonist Sapphire, a princess who lost her kingdom, bonding with new allies and transforming to fight the calamity known as Nelgar.

The newly announced cast members voice Sapphire's fellow workers at a mining site. Veteran voice actor Yoshimasa Hosoya plays Rock, the leader of her crew.

Three of the new roles are voiced by VTubers from the popular group Nijisanji: Mito Tsukino as Hecate, Lunlun as Chick, and Debidebi Debiru as Tack. All three VTubers are making their feature-length anime voice acting debuts.

"I felt the weight of being involved with a project based on such a great and long-beloved work," Mito Tsukino commented.

The film is directed by Yuki Igarashi, known for his work on 'Jujutsu Kaisen' and the 'Star Wars: Visions' short 'Lop & Ocho'. Character designs are by Kei Mochizuki ('Fate/Grand Order') with assistance from Mai Yoneyama ('Cyberpunk: Edgerunners').

Igarashi's studio, OUTLINE, is handling animation production. The film was previously featured at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Yusuke Tezuka rounds out the new cast as Chorogi. The main cast also includes Saya (LALAND) as Sapphire, Karan Kobayashi as Pine, and Koki Uchiyama as Velvet.
