Novelization of Anime Film 'Hanarokusyou ga Akeru Hi ni' Set for December Release

Starts Publishing Co., Ltd. will release the novelization of the anime film 'Hanarokusyou ga Akeru Hi ni' on December 28, 2025. The novel, written by Aoyama Kaimizu and based on an original story by Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, will be available from Starts Publishing Bunko.

The anime film is a Japan-France co-production with Miyu Productions, a renowned French studio. It was featured at the Annecy Animation Showcase during the Cannes Film Festival. The film is scheduled for release on March 6, 2026.

The storyline follows Keitaro, who dreams of launching the mythical firework 'Shuhari' despite his family's factory facing eviction due to town redevelopment. His childhood friend Kaoru returns from Tokyo, reigniting his determination. Together, they strive to create a miracle using the key ingredient, the beautiful blue pigment 'Hanarokusyou'.

Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, who worked on 'Your Name' with Makoto Shinkai, serves as the writer and director for this project. The film features performances by actors Riku Hagiwara and Kotone Furukawa, with supporting roles by Miyu Irino and Takashi Okabe.
