Reborn as a Fat Villainess' TV Anime Adaptation Announced

The popular web novel Reborn as a Fat Villainess, Why is the Final Boss Prince Obsessed with Me? will receive a TV anime adaptation. The series has surpassed 70 million downloads across Japanese digital platforms.

Studio Lings, known for The Dangers in My Heart, will handle animation production. The main cast features Haruka Shiraishi as the reincarnated villainess Celine and Takeo Otsuka as the yandere prince Wilfred.

A teaser visual and a motion comic preview video have been released. The video includes the first samples of the main cast's voices.

The series follows Celine, a woman reborn as the overweight, ill-fated villainess of a novel. She strives to avoid her destined death through diet and study, only to become entangled in the obsessive affections of the story's final boss prince.

Original author Koto and artist Kaname Hanamiya provided congratulatory comments and illustrations. The anime will have a presence at AnimeJapan 2026 in Tokyo later this month.

Key staff includes director Naoyuki Kuzuya, assistant director Shusaku Katou, series composer and scriptwriter Mitsuki Hirota, and character designers Fumino Kakihata and Yukiko Sekita.
