Uru and back number Team Up for 'Guardian of the Kusunoki Tree' Anime Theme

Uru's new single, "Beside the Moonlit Night," produced by back number, will serve as the theme song for the upcoming anime adaptation of Keigo Higashino's novel 'Guardian of the Kusunoki Tree'. The song will be available digitally on January 19, 2026, with a CD release following on January 28, 2026.

The anime film, set to premiere on January 30, 2026, is a fantasy adaptation of Higashino's novel, which has sold over a million copies. Directed by Tomohiko Ito, known for 'Sword Art Online', the film is produced by A-1 Pictures, known for hits like 'Your Lie in April' and 'Blue Exorcist'.

The story follows Reito Naoi, a young man who becomes the guardian of a mystical kusunoki tree, believed to grant wishes. The film features a strong cast, including Fumiya Takahashi in his first leading role in an animated film and Yuki Amami as Reito's aunt, Chifune Yanagisawa.

The film's trailer, featuring a snippet of the theme song, is available on Aniplex's YouTube channel.

Uru expressed her excitement about singing the theme song for a Higashino work and collaborating with back number. Shimizu of back number also shared his enthusiasm for contributing to the anime.
