THIS TIME OF THE YEAR

It started out so innocently
I just missed your face
You laughed and said it's chemistry
It never really goes away

You're wearing someone else's shirt
I shouldn't mind it but I do
No, I don't wanna be your friend, I tried
I can't 'cause it's still you

And I know
It's this time of the year I miss you so
The hazel in your eyes when it gets cold
The smoke from my cigarette on your clothes
No, nothing that she does comes close

I'm sorry for calling so out of the dark
I don't know my intention, I never think that far
I just act on the feeling, did you feel it too
When we caught up for a drink?
And I had to leave the room, a whole year and it's still you

I know
It's this time of the year I miss you so
The hazel in your eyes when it gets cold
The smoke from my cigarette on your clothes
No, nothing that she does comes close

Now it's September, I miss you in the fall
Do you remember? 'Cause I still see it all
Your lips on my neck
How I'd always get that funny feeling deep in my chest
Somehow you're the only thing, I'm still so upset
I felt such a spark and I'm still so obsessed

And I know
It's this time of the year I miss you so
The hazel in your eyes when it gets cold
The smoke from my cigarette on your clothes
No, nothing that she does comes close
Nothing that she does comes close, hmm, hmm
