'Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes' TV Anime Adaptation Set for January 2027

The fantasy light novel series 'Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes' (The Mercedes of the Waning Moon) will receive a TV anime adaptation. It is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.

The production committee released a teaser visual and the first promotional video. The PV introduces the protagonist, Mercedes Grunewald, a Japanese office worker reborn as a vampire noble. It shows her engaging in combat within a dungeon.

Voice actress Anna Nagase will play the lead role of Mercedes. Nagase won the Best Rookie Actress award at the 17th Seiyu Awards in 2023. Her previous roles include Sakurasaki Akane in 'Akane-banashi' and Makina in 'Ginga Tokkyu Milky☆Subway'.

In a comment, Nagase said she was drawn to the series' dense world-building and distinctive characters.

The main staff includes director Kunihiko Sugishima ('Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters', 'Speed Grapher'), series composer Jun Kumagai ('Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju'), and character designer Nami Shoyama ('Buddy Daddies'). Music will be composed by R・O・N and Shuhei Mutsuki. Animation production is handled by Tedy.
