Odoru Daisousasen Spin-Off 'Odoru Daisousasen: Sosa Shiryo Kanrisha' Premieres on Prime Video

A new spin-off series from the long-running Japanese police drama franchise Odoru Daisousasen (Bayside Shakedown) will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 4, 2026. Titled Odoru Daisousasen: Sosa Shiryo Kanrisha ~ Aoshima Shunsaku, Kuhaku no 13-nen ~, the three-episode series focuses on a 13-year narrative gap for the franchise's main character, Aoshima Shunsaku.

The story follows Akashi Yukio, a technical specialist at the Metropolitan Police Department's Investigation Materials Management Center. His character, played by Akapen Takigawa, first appeared in the 2026 film Odoru Daisousasen N.E.W. Metropolis o Kakenukero!. In the new series, Akashi receives an anonymous cassette tape instructing him to investigate Aoshima's "missing 13 years"—the period following the 2012 film Odoru Daisousasen THE FINAL Aratanaru Kibou.

Using his tendency for wild speculation and the vast archive of case files at his disposal, Akashi attempts to reconstruct Aoshima's activities from 2013 to 2026. The investigation covers Aoshima's time at the Wangan Police Station, the First Investigative Division, and the SSBC.

The original 2018 series, its 2019 second season, and 2020 specials will also stream on Prime Video from September 4.

The main cast includes Akapen Takigawa as Akashi Yukio, Sayaka Akimoto as Totsuka Miho, Megumi Kobashi as Nozoe Kumiko, Naoki Kawano as Kuriyama Koji, and Mion Mukaichi as Shibata Rikako. The series is scripted by Naoya Yamauchi, supervised by Chihiro Kameyama, with overall direction by Katsuyuki Motohiro and direction by Juta Yamaguchi.

BS Fuji will also air an extensive lineup of related content, including the original 1997 Odoru Daisousasen series, special dramas, and films from late August through December 2026.
