The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Anime Announces 10th Anniversary Plans

The anime adaptation of The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. will mark its 10th anniversary in 2026. A special anniversary visual and icon have been released, with a global fan vote for favorite episodes launching in May.

The series began its television broadcast in July 2016. It ran for four seasons totaling 280 episodes, with the final season, Ψ始動編 (Psi-nan Shidou-hen), premiering on Netflix in 2019.

A global vote for the best episodes from all 280 installments opens on May 1. Fans can vote for their top main story episodes and for three special categories: 'Melodramatic Story', 'Good Grief Story', and 'Oops Story'. The voting period runs through May 31.

The top three main episodes and the winner of each special category will be streamed for free on the Jump Channel YouTube channel starting August 16.

Series creator Shuichi Aso, director Hiroaki Sakurai, and lead voice actor Hiroshi Kamiya provided comments for the anniversary. Kamiya, who voices the psychic protagonist Saiki Kusuo, recalled a nurse telling him the show was funny while he was receiving an IV drip. "I also thought, 'I wish they'd told me that when I was feeling better,'" he said.

Creator Aso joked about the manga's own 10th anniversary, which passed without fanfare. "The anime's getting all the attention... should we set off some flashy fireworks over here? Release a sequel?" he wrote. Director Sakurai reminisced about challenging the cast to deliver lines without taking a breath.

Merchandise featuring scenes from the highest-voted episodes will be available via the Japanese online lottery service Online Kujira. Additional anniversary content, including non-credit opening and ending sequences on YouTube, is planned for June and July.

The anniversary vote website is anime10th.saikikusuo.com. Results will be announced on August 6 and August 16, the birthdays of characters Kokomi Teruhashi and Kusuo Saiki.
