Shihori Releases 'When I Decided Not To Die', a Song Born From Personal Struggle

Shihori, a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter who has written for Nana Mizuki and Momoiro Clover Z, released a new digital single today. The song, titled 'When I Decided Not To Die,' is based on her own experience with severe bullying in elementary school that led her to consider suicide.

Shihori has written over 140 songs for anime, games, and idols. She moved to the United States in 2018. Her 2020 track 'Holy Steel,' a fictional opening theme for 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run' created with Italian artist Niko Bellisario, has over 20 million streams.

It was co-arranged by Shinya Saito, who worked on Shoko Nakagawa's 'Sorairo Days.' UK-based engineer Yoad Nevo, who has credits on Sia's music, handled the mixing.

'When I Decided Not To Die' is the lead track for Shihori's upcoming album 'ESCALATION,' which is due this summer.
