AMAIWANA Announces New Single 'Hong Kong First Love'

AMAIWANA will release a new single, 'Hong Kong First Love' (Hong Kong Hatsukoi), on August 19. The track was inspired by a solo trip to Hong Kong and Wong Kar-wai's film 'First Love'. The digital single is available for pre-order and pre-save on global platforms including iTunes, Amazon, Apple Music, and Spotify.

The lyrics were written later, drawing inspiration from the movie 'First Love', which Wong Kar-wai produced.

Musically, the track is described as dreamy electro-pop. For the first time, AMAIWANA recorded live drums instead of programmed beats. The track blends mechanical rhythms with human-like fluctuations, influenced by 80s technopop acts like YMO.

Arrangement was handled by AMAIWANA and Atsumu Wonderful, with mixing and mastering by Ginger Root.

AMAIWANA, born in 2000, is a singer-songwriter, trackmaker, and director from Kyoto. Her style, which she calls "dream punk," draws from Showa-era technopop, new wave, dream pop, and 90s Shibuya-kei. She performed at Coachella 2025 on Ginger Root's stage and recently completed a tour in Taiwan.

The artist will also headline a two-man live event, 'SPICY KISS IV', on August 23 at Spotify O-nest in Shibuya. Guests include n・Feni, with DJ support from Lovely Summer Chan.
