Award-Winning Novel 'Jirai Guriko' Gets Live-Action Adaptation on Amazon Prime Video

The award-winning suspense novel 'Jirai Guriko' (Rock Paper Landmine) will be adapted into a live-action series for Amazon Prime Video. The series premieres globally on the platform on November 13, 2026.

The series stars Morinaga Nana and Makita Aju as two high school girls drawn into high-stakes psychological battles. The games are based on simple childhood pastimes like 'Red Light, Green Light' and 'Concentration,' but with deadly new rules. The girls are not wagering their lives, but the stakes—from prime festival booth locations to chips worth 90 million yen—are everything to their youth.

It achieved an unprecedented triple crown, winning the 37th Yamamoto Shugoro Prize, the 24th Honkaku Mystery Award, and the 77th Mystery Writers of Japan Award. It also swept major mystery rankings, earning a total of nine accolades.

Production is led by Mori Akira, producer of 'Alice in Borderland' and the live-action 'Yu Yu Hakusho.' Directing is Seki Kazuaki, a music video director for artists like Perfume and Sakanaction.

Morinaga Nana plays Imoriya Mato, a seemingly airheaded student who reveals a genius-level strategic mind when faced with a competition. Makita Aju plays her best friend and worried guardian, Koda Kazahi.

The series will be distributed to over 240 countries and territories. The script is written by Mishima Tatsuro, Ueno Shiori, and Kobayashi Daiki, with music by yuma yamaguchi.
