Film 'Mienai Musume THE INVISIBLES' Sets August 2026 Release, Reveals Trailer

The creative team behind the international festival hit 'MONDAYS' will release their next film, 'Mienai Musume THE INVISIBLES', in Japanese theaters on August 28, 2026. The sci-fi family drama about a man and his three daughters, one of whom is invisible, released its main visual and teaser trailer today.

Director Ryo Takebayashi and writer Saeri Natsuo reunite after 'MONDAYS', which won the Grand Prix at the Vevey International Funny Film Festival and was nominated at Sitges. Their new film follows a chronically worried father, played by Katsuya Maiguma, who must travel to Tokyo with his three daughters after their grandmother is hospitalized. His youngest daughter, Hikari, is invisible from birth.

The teaser shows a conversation between the father and his invisible daughter, voiced by Rinko Suzuki. A doctor's voice is heard saying, "No one would believe you, would they? Of course not. There's no reason to believe."

The cast includes Kanako Higashi as the eldest daughter, Hana Yayama as the middle daughter, and veteran actors Susumu Terajima, Kimiko Yo, Tomochika, Yutaro Hamada, Shohei Uno, Wan Ennui, Shintaro Asanuma, Ryotaro Sakaguchi, Itsuji Itao, Masaya Kato, and Kurara Emi.

'Mienai Musume THE INVISIBLES' is produced and planned by CHOCOLATE Inc., with production also by PARCO and Tokyu Agency. The film will be distributed by PARCO and CHOCOLATE Inc. in Japan. The official website and X account are now live.
