Manga 'August 31st Long Summer' Gets TV Anime and Live-Action Drama Adaptations

The manga 'August 31st Long Summer' (8月31日のロングサマー) will be adapted into both a TV anime series and a live-action TV drama. The anime will be produced by the studio SHAFT, known for 'Puella Magi Madoka Magica' and the 'Monogatari' series.

Two high school students, Suzuki and Takagi, are the only ones aware of the repeating August 31st. The cause of the loop is suspected to be Suzuki's failure to confess his feelings.

The manga, serialized in Kodansha's 'Morning' magazine, is written and illustrated by Ito Issumi. The first tankobon volume is available now.

Publisher Kodansha is offering a limited-time free read of the first four volumes on its Comic Days platform. A special one-day-only episode was also published on the site for August 31st.
