Maya and Rol3ert Release Collaborative Single 'ROMANTICIZE'

Maya and Rol3ert have released their collaborative single "ROMANTICIZE." The track is a medium-tempo ballad with English lyrics, produced by Tokyo-based beatmaker A.G.O.

The song uses motifs like guitars and Polaroids to depict a broken relationship. Minimal beats and airy synths form the backdrop for the two vocalists' interplay.

An official music video, directed by Futoshi Nakazawa, was also released. It is set in an airport.

"I focused on how much of my own elements I could put in," Maya said, mentioning the use of nouns from her daily life like hair ties and bunk beds to help listeners imagine the story.

Rol3ert noted the song was completed during their first session. "We finished both the lyrics and the track on the spot," he said. "We valued the intuitive sparks and impulses of the moment until the very end."

Maya is a high school student based in the US. Her cover videos on TikTok gained millions of views. She was later featured on a Honda global commercial and a track with m-flo. Her debut single "Red Lights" charted on J-WAVE's TOKIO HOT 100.

Rol3ert, born in the US and raised in Japan, began his solo career in January 2025. His music blends English lyrics with J-pop melodies. He was selected for Spotify's "RADAR: Early Noise 2026" program and was featured in Rolling Stone's "Future of Music" list as one of 25 Japanese artists to watch.
