Osamu Tezuka's 'Unico: Awakening' Reboot Set for December 2025 Release

ShoPro will release 'Unico: Awakening', a modern reboot of Osamu Tezuka's classic 'Unico', on December 18, 2025.

'Unico' originally appeared in the 1976 Sanrio manga magazine 'Ririka', known for its innovative horizontal layout. The character gained international popularity following its 1980s anime adaptation. 'Unico: Awakening' is crafted by writer Samuel Sattin and illustrator unit Gurihiru, with full support from Tezuka Productions. The project raised $100,000 through Kickstarter and was published by Scholastic in the US, selling over 500,000 copies.

The Japanese edition's release will also feature merchandise available through the ShoPro Mall. Items include glitter can badges and acrylic stands, with international shipping options.
