Science SARU's 'Tenmaku no Jaadugar' to Showcase at AnimeJapan 2026

The upcoming anime series 'Tenmaku no Jaadugar' (Jaadugar of the Canopy) will be featured at the CyberAgent Anime booth during AnimeJapan 2026. The event takes place March 28-29 at Tokyo Big Sight.

The series is scheduled to premiere in July 2026 on TV Asahi's nationwide network and BS Asahi. It is based on the award-winning manga by Tomato Soup, serialized in Akita Shoten's 'Souffle' magazine. The story follows a young girl named Shitara in 13th-century Iran who is taken in by a scholarly family, with her fate intertwining with the expanding Mongol Empire.

Animation production is handled by Science SARU, the studio behind 'DEVILMAN crybaby', 'Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!', and 'Scott Pilgrim Takes Off'. The staff includes director Abel Gongora (Science SARU), chief director Naoko Yamada ('A Silent Voice'), character designer Kenichi Yoshida ('Eureka Seven'), series composer Kanichi Kato ('The Dangers in My Heart'), and composer Koshirou Hino, marking his first anime score.

The manga won first place in the women's category of Takarajimasha's 'Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023' and was nominated for the Manga Taisho award in 2023 and 2024.
