The Apothecary Diaries' Global Sales Hit 57 Million, Season 3 and Movie Announced

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) has surpassed 57 million copies in circulation worldwide.

The light novel series by Natsu Hyuga, illustrated by Shino Tōko, began in 2014. It follows Maomao, a pharmacist sold into the imperial harem, where she uses her knowledge to solve mysteries.

A third anime season and a new theatrical film are set for release. The anime's first season in 2023 boosted series sales from 24 million to over 33 million copies. Following the second season, circulation reached 45 million.

The third season will air in two parts. The first part begins October 2, 2026, on Nippon TV. The second part is scheduled for April 2027.

The film, The Apothecary Diaries: The Lost Treasure of the Deceased Consort, opens December 11, 2026. It features an original story written by author Natsu Hyuga.

The series has two manga adaptations published by Square Enix and Shogakukan.
