Yuki Yamada Leads 'Chiruran: Shinsengumi Chinkonka' Live-Action Adaptation

A major live-action adaptation of the manga 'Chiruran: Shinsengumi Chinkonka' is set to air on TBS and stream exclusively on U-NEXT in spring 2026. This project is a collaboration between TBS, U-NEXT, and THE SEVEN, featuring Yuki Yamada, Kento Nakajima, and Go Ayano.

Yuki Yamada stars as Hijikata Toshizo, with Kento Nakajima as Okada Izo and Go Ayano as Serizawa Kamo. The story explores the formation and legacy of the Shinsengumi, a group of samurai in late Edo period Japan.

New cast members include Aira Yuki as Ichikawa Makoto, a woman seeking the truth about the Shinsengumi, and Akira Emoto as the older Nagakura Shinpachi, who survived the turbulent era.

Producer Teru Morii ('Alice in Borderland'), director Kazutaka Watanabe ('Onna Joshu Naotora'), and screenwriter Masaaki Sakai ('Absolute Zero') lead the team.
