Ma'Scar'Piece Makes International Debut at Canada's Animethon 2026

Idol group Ma'Scar'Piece performed their first live show outside Asia at Animethon 2026 in Edmonton, Canada. The five-member unit, linked to the Denonbu (電音部) character project, played to a crowd of approximately 1,700 fans during the three-day anime convention from August 7-9.

The group's performance on the second day included both a live set and a late-night DJ session. An opening video referenced their official story comic, 'Otobako Mix', and the crowd cheered when the fictional opponent "Canada Edmonton" was called out. The setlist featured tracks like "Showtime Ignition," "BON BON FIRE," and their self-introduction character song "Ma'Scar'Piece."

During a DJ segment, members Tatara Yura and Kanzaki Yuiri manned the decks, mixing a medley of the group's trance-influenced songs. A separate DJ performance later that night by four of the five members also drew a large crowd, despite a late start time and a brief equipment issue that was handled without stopping the show.

Ma'Scar'Piece is part of Bandai Namco Entertainment's Denonbu project, specifically representing the Shimokitazawa Area. The members voice characters from Kitazawa Ongakukan High School while also performing as idols in the real world, a style central to the project. The group describes itself as a "Reiwa Trance Idol" unit, blending idol performance with club music.

The group has several upcoming events in Japan, including a 2nd anniversary live, "Fly 2 Zenith," at WARP SHINJUKU on August 22. They are also scheduled to appear at @JAM EXPO 2026 at Yokohama Arena on August 29.
