Anime 'Otagal' Sets April 2026 Premiere with (G)I-DLE Opening Theme

The anime adaptation of the manga 'Ota ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!?' (Otagal) premieres April 8, 2026. The opening theme will be performed by the global K-pop group (G)I-DLE.

The series follows otaku high school student Takuya Seo, who becomes involved with two gyaru classmates: the cheerful Kotoko Ijichi and the cool but airheaded Kei Amane. The first episode, titled 'The Otaku, the Gyaru, and Kiramon,' sees Takuya approached by the two girls, sparking a comedy about their clashing social circles.

The ending theme, 'Issho Nakago,' is by the Japanese band Sanshi Shoujo. The anime will air on TV Asahi and BS Asahi in Japan.

Streaming and International Access

In Japan, the series will stream on platforms including Hulu, U-NEXT, and DMM TV shortly after broadcast. International streaming availability has not been formally announced. The theme songs by (G)I-DLE and Sanshi Shoujo are available on global music platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

A related radio show hosted by voice actress Yū Serizawa (Kotoko Ijichi) begins April 4 on the program 'A&G TRIBAL RADIO EDISON.'

Production and Cast

The anime is directed by Arata Mita, with series composition by Kazuhiko Inukai. Animation production is handled by TMS Entertainment's Studio 6.

The main cast includes Masashi Omura as Takuya Seo, Yoshi Inagaki as Kei Amane, and Yū Serizawa as Kotoko Ijichi. Supporting cast members include Jun Kasama, Konomi Kohara, Atsumi Tanezaki, and Emiri Katō.

The series will have a stage event at AnimeJapan 2026 on March 29 at Tokyo Big Sight, featuring the main cast and special MC Coolpoco.

The original manga, with over 1.5 million copies in circulation, publishes in Monthly Comic Zenon. Volume 12 goes on sale March 19.
