'Cho Kaguyahime!' Returns to Japanese Theaters in Special Formats

The anime film 'Cho Kaguyahime!' will return to Japanese theaters on September 18, 2026. This re-release will feature enhanced formats including MX4D, 4DX, SCREENX, ULTRA 4DX, and Dolby Atmos screenings.

The film, directed by Seigo Yamashita, is a Netflix original currently streaming worldwide. Its soundtrack features music from Vocaloid producers including ryo (supercell), kz (livetune), 40mP, and HoneyWorks.

Since its initial theatrical run began in February, the film has drawn over 1.2 million attendees in Japan and grossed more than 2.5 billion yen. It also topped Netflix's daily movie charts in Japan.

A new trailer announces the return with the line, "Then Kaguyahime! One more time!" The film's story follows high schooler Saya Sakayori, who discovers a baby that rapidly grows into a teenage girl claiming to be the legendary Princess Kaguya.

The voice cast includes Yuuko Natsuyoshi, Anna Nagase, Saori Hayami, and Miyu Irino. Animation production is handled by Studio Colorido and Studio Chromato.

An online event, the Tsukuyomi Thanksgiving Festival featuring 3D versions of the characters, is scheduled for December 2026.
