Documentary 'NOFX: 40 Years of Fuckin' Up' Sets Japanese Theatrical Release

The documentary film NOFX: 40 Years of Fuckin' Up will open in Japanese theaters on December 4, 2026.

Directed by James Buddy Day, the documentary was produced with the band's involvement. It follows NOFX from their 1983 formation in California through their final tour, covering internal conflicts, health issues, and their DIY business approach. The film features interviews with band members Fat Mike, Eric Melvin, El Hefe, and Erik Sandin.

James Buddy Day described the film as neither a tribute nor an indictment. "It's more chaotic than that," he stated. "The truth of NOFX lies somewhere between the conflicting testimonies." The director noted the band's foundational "contradiction"—their raucous, often inebriated stage persona versus the quietly built independent music empire they ran offstage.

The film also features commentary from members of Bad Religion, The Offspring, Pennywise, Hi-STANDARD, and Sum 41. The film runs for 126 minutes.

NOFX: 40 Years of Fuckin' Up will premiere at Shinjuku Wald 9 and other theaters across Japan. The film's official website is 40yearsoffuckinup.jp.
