Doraemon Film Gets First-Ever Theatrical Release in India

The 2026 film Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Great Adventure into the Underworld will open in Indian theaters on October 2.

The film will be distributed by PVR INOX Pictures and screened in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Doraemon has been broadcast on Indian television for 21 years.

A premiere screening was held on September 26 at the Inorbit Mall Malad in Mumbai. Characters including Doraemon, Nobita, Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo appeared on stage.

Promotional events include mall activations and school programs across India, with plans for Doraemon-themed auto-rickshaws and buses.

In Japan, a related television special will air on November 7. Titled "Namaste! Nobita Studies Abroad in India," the episode on TV Asahi follows Nobita and Doraemon on a trip to Delhi.
