'Hotaru no Yomeiri' Manga Adaptation by david production Set for 2026

'Hotaru no Yomeiri', the popular manga by Oreko Tachibana, is set to be adapted into a TV anime by david production, known for their work on 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure'. The anime will premiere in October 2026 on Fuji TV's Noitamina block.

The manga, serialized on Shogakukan's MangaOne app, has sold over 3.5 million copies. Set in the Meiji era, it follows the story of Satoko Kirigaya, a noblewoman with a short life expectancy, and Shinpei Goto, a hitman who becomes her obsessive protector in a forbidden marriage contract.

david production, also behind 'Cells at Work!', will bring this intense romance and suspense story to life. The main staff includes director Takahiro Kamei, known for 'Urusei Yatsura' and 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind', and character designer Yukiko Aikei, who worked on 'Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop' and 'Your Lie in April'.
