Kyary Pamyu Pamyu releases 'Focus Focus' music video

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has released the music video for her new single 'Focus Focus'.

The song is an electro-dance tune built around the theme of 'light'. Its lyrics incorporate camera terminology like 'focal length' and 'depth of field' into Kyary's signature wordplay.

The video was directed by Masaki Watanabe, a member of the creative team maxilla. Watanabe was recently nominated for Best Music Video at the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN. This is his first collaboration with Kyary.

The visual departs from Kyary's typically colorful pop aesthetic. She appears with black bobbed hair in a more mature style, and also sports twin-tails—a look she hasn't worn in some time. Set against a blue-toned, stylish backdrop, the video features dance sequences and incorporates motifs like a teeth jewelry piece, an eye examination chart, and camera focus charts.

In a statement, Kyary said working with Watanabe and a crew of her generation was stimulating and fun. She described the video as having a different atmosphere from her usual work and hopes fans enjoy this new side.

The digital single 'Focus Focus' is available on streaming platforms. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu debuted in 2011 and has completed five world tours.
