Samurai Pizza Cats Returns with New Game 'Blast from the Past!'

The cult 90s anime 'Samurai Pizza Cats' is getting a new game. 'Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past!' will receive its first playable demo at Tokyo Game Show 2026, with a worldwide release planned.

The game is being developed by Dutch studio Blast Zero and will be distributed globally by Red Dunes Games. A Steam page is already live. A teaser trailer shows protagonists Yattaro and Karamaru.

Original series writer Akahori Satoru is penning the script. The voice cast is a reunion of legendary actors, including Yamaguchi Kappei (Yattaro), Yamashita Seiichiro (Sukashii), Orikasa Ai (Pururun), and Horiuchi Kenyu (Narrator). New cast members include Yamadera Koichi as Karamaru and Koorogi Satomi as Otama.

The TGS 2026 demo will be a 2D action-platformer. Players can switch between Yattaro, Sukashii, and Pururun to battle familiar enemies in Edoropolis. All animation is newly produced.

A previous teaser released in February 2025 trended on social media and surpassed one million combined views on its Japanese and English versions.
