Studio Qzil.la is producing the film, which will use hand-drawn 2D animation to depict the game's Sengoku-era world. The project will feature a theme song by the late composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. His orchestral piece "Blu," from the album The Best of 'Playing the Orchestra 2014', will be used.

The voice cast includes Daisuke Namikawa as Wolf, Miyuki Satō as Kuro, and Kenjirō Tsuda as Genichiro Ashina. They will be joined by returning game cast members Jin Urayama as the Sculptor, Shizuka Itō as Emma, Mitsumitsu Takase as Hanbei, Takaya Hashi as the Owl, and Tetsuo Kanao as Isshin Ashina.
