Survey Ranks Most Anticipated Fall 2026 Anime Adaptations

A survey of Japanese manga and book readers has ranked the most anticipated anime, drama, and film adaptations for Fall 2026.

The Apothecary Diaries (薬屋のひとりごと) took first place. The third season begins October 2, 2026, followed by an original film, The Apothecary Diaries: The Secret Treasure of the Deceased Consort, on December 11.

Second place went to Hotaru no Yomeiri (ホタルの嫁入り). The manga, which won the 2024 Everyone's Choice E-Comic Grand Prize and has sold over 5 million copies, will premiere on Fuji TV's Noitamina block starting October 9, 2026.

Magic Knight Rayearth (魔法騎士レイアース) ranked fifth. CLAMP's classic 1990s fantasy adventure returns with a new TV anime series after 32 years. It is scheduled to air on TV Asahi's IMAnimation W block from October 7, 2026.

The full top ten list includes JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run at number seven, and Ranma ½ at number nine. The only non-anime entry, the drama adaptation of Nami Uraraka ni, Meoto Biyori, placed sixth.

The survey collected 1,153 responses from BookLive members between August 28 and 30, 2026. It focused on adaptations of works available on the platform.
