TeddyLoid releases 'Watashi wa LAYRA' for immersive Belle spin-off project

TeddyLoid has released the new song 'Watashi wa LAYRA'. The track is the opening theme for the upcoming immersive live show 'Ryuu to Sobakasu no Hime - PROJECT LAYRA -'. It is performed by five vocalists: miwa, Kon Natsumi, Suzuki Konomi, Miki Maria, and ASCA.

The song was written, composed, and produced by TeddyLoid (Altervoice) and Ryota Saito. It introduces the new virtual diva LAYRA, in a story set five years after the anime film 'Belle'. The character LAYRA is portrayed by the five singers, who will perform the role on a rotating basis during the live event.

An illustration of LAYRA by artist Mika Pikazo was also revealed.

In a statement, TeddyLoid said the song depicts the moment a new diva is born and steps into the world of U. He described capturing the character's internal conflict and her strong impulse to sing, which transforms into a larger energy within the sound.

The immersive live show itself, 'PROJECT LAYRA', is scheduled to run from October 10 to November 15, 2026, at the MoN Takanawa Box1000 venue in Tokyo. The production will utilize extensive LED screens and a technology called DOTIMAGE, which uses floating light particles, to blend virtual and real stage elements.

Five separate music videos for the song, one featuring each vocalist, have been released on YouTube. The videos combine animation from the original 'Belle' film with 3DCG elements.

'Watashi wa LAYRA' is out now on streaming services. Tickets for the Japan-only live event are available via a domestic lottery.
