TV Anime 'BLACK TORCH' Sets July 4 Premiere with Global Streaming

The TV anime "BLACK TORCH" will premiere on July 4, 2026. It will be produced by the global animation label 100studio.

The series will air on TOKYO MX at 22:00 each Saturday. It will stream simultaneously on ABEMA, d Anime Store, U-NEXT, and Anime Times.

Prime Video, Disney+ Star, and Hulu will begin weekly episodes from July 9. YouTube will offer rental viewing.

The opening theme is "FREEZE ME UP" by SiM. The ending theme is "Groooovy" by I Don't Like Mondays.

The story follows high school student Ichiro Wagatsuma, a descendant of ninjas who can speak with animals. He encounters a wounded black cat, Rago, in a forest. Rago is revealed to be a legendary monster once called the "Black Evil Star." Ichiro and Rago become entangled with a secret government organization that monitors and eliminates monsters.

The main cast includes Ryuta Suzuki as Ichiro Wagatsuma and Yoji Ueda as Rago. Supporting roles feature Chika Yamamoto, Junya Enoki, and Junichi Suwabe.

The anime is based on the manga by Takaki Tsuyoshi, published by Shueisha. The director is Kei Mabiki. Character design is by Go Suzuki.

100studio, operated by HIKE Inc., is the animation production company. Their previous work includes the 2024 theatrical film "Hurray!" and the 2025 TV anime "This World Is Too Imperfect."
