TV Anime 'BLACK TORCH' Sets July 4 Premiere with Worldwide Stream

The TV anime adaptation of BLACK TORCH will premiere on July 4, 2026, with a simultaneous worldwide broadcast. The series revealed a new key visual, promotional video, and its theme song artists: SiM and I Don't Like Mondays.

The opening theme is SiM's "FREEZE ME UP," and the ending theme is "Groooovy" by I Don't Like Mondays. A new promotional video featuring both songs and action sequences is now available.

I Don't Like Mondays. stated their track was written to reflect the quiet daily life behind the characters' battles and to accompany listeners through their own lives.

The story follows Jiro, a high school boy raised as a ninja descendant who can speak with animals. He encounters a wounded black cat named Rago, who is actually a legendary monster once called the "Black Evil Star."

The broadcast will begin on TOKYO MX at 22:00 JST on July 4, with other Japanese stations following. A simultaneous worldwide stream will be available on distribution platforms.

The main cast includes Ryota Suzuki as Jiro and Yoji Ueda as Rago. Supporting cast members are Chinatsu Akasaki, Junichi Suwabe, Toshiyuki Morikawa, and Nobuhiko Okamoto. The series is directed by Kei Umabiki, with character design by Go Suzuki, and animation by 100studio.

The original manga by Toshiyuki Takaki, published by Shueisha, will have all five volumes reprinted starting June 8. Digital samples are available via Shonen Jump+.
