YOASOBI releases NHK drama theme song 'Sakihokore'

YOASOBI's new single "Sakihokore" will be released digitally on October 14. The song is the theme for the NHK morning drama "Blossom," which began airing on September 28.

The drama "Blossom" is based on the life of author Uno Chiyo, who lived through the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods. Novelist Wataya Risa, known for works like "Kick Me in the Back" and "I Want to Hold You Back," wrote an original story titled "Sakura no Inochi wa Fumetsu Nari" specifically for the song's production.

Ayase, who hails from the same Yamaguchi Prefecture as Uno Chiyo, visited her birthplace and related sites while writing the track. The song marks YOASOBI's first recording with a live orchestra. Ensemble FOVE, led by composer and musician Sato Yudai, performed the orchestral arrangement by composer Hatate Yūya. Choirs, stomps, and claps were also recorded live with members of the acoustic session unit "Puraso Nika."

YOASOBI will appear in a special TV program about the song's production. "How the Theme Song for the Morning Drama 'Blossom' Was Made" airs on NHK General TV on November 3 at 8:15 AM. It will feature a conversation between YOASOBI and actress Shizuka Ishibashi, who stars in the drama, alongside behind-the-scenes footage. The program will be available for catch-up viewing for one week on NHK ONE.
