Hatsune Miku's Magical Mirai 2026 Draws Over 90,000, Expands to Hiroshima in 2027

Hatsune Miku's annual Magical Mirai festival concluded its 2026 tour, drawing over 90,000 attendees across three Japanese cities. The event's final concert announced the festival will expand to Hiroshima in 2027.

The 2026 tour ran from July to August, with stops in Hamamatsu, Osaka, and Tokyo. This year's theme was "Lake Sonare." The festival combines 3DCG concerts featuring Vocaloids like Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO, and KAITO with an exhibition of creator works and interactive workshops.

On the final night in Tokyo, Hatsune Miku announced the 2027 tour will include Osaka, Tokyo, and a first-time event in Hiroshima. Dates are scheduled for July through August 2027.

The event featured a new theme song, "Sora ni Menjite" (空に免じて) by composer Kasamura Tota. The theme song was a ballad.

The exhibition area showcased the main visual by illustrator Wata and a music video for the theme song. Interactive displays included a "piapro wall" for drawing and a section for recommending songs related to flowers. Osaka and Tokyo venues featured a street piano for public use.

Other attractions included booths for trying the Hatsune Miku vocal synthesis software, hands-on workshops, and a "Creators Market" for purchasing music directly from composers.

Partnerships included the city's tourism board, the Enshu Railway, department stores, and a special exhibit with Yamaha Corporation, the developer of VOCALOID technology. A talk stage featured developers from both Crypton Future Media and Yamaha.

The live concerts presented 26 songs per show across 18 total performances. The setlist closed with the ballad theme song. The encore featured "Hand in Hand" by livetune, with all six virtual singers on stage. The final song was "Kotaete" by imie, the grand prize winner of the 2026 music contest.
