TV Anime 'Shozen' Set for April 2027 Premiere on Fuji TV

The TV anime adaptation of the manga 'Shozen' will premiere in April 2027 on Fuji TV's B8station programming block. The first promotional video was released alongside the announcement.

The original manga by Jiang Jia Meizi (Jangja Meiz) will be released digitally on the RideComi platform starting August 5, 2026. The first 20 chapters will be available at launch, with chapters 1 through 5 free to read. Serialization will continue weekly on Fridays from August 14.

Veteran director Kawasaki Itsuro will helm the series, also serving as scriptwriter and sound director. The cast includes Hiroshi Kamiya as Dōzen, Rina Kawaguchi as Shōzen, Daisuke Sakuma as Ryoji, Aoi Yuki as Kensei, and Ayumu Murase as Chiro.

The story follows Dōzen, a traveling Taoist priest who encounters a girl raised by yokai. He names her Shōzen and takes her on as his disciple.

Music for the series is composed by Iga Takurō. Animation production is handled by Dangan Pictures and Kanon Code.

The anime's official website and X (formerly Twitter) account are now live. Further international streaming details for the 2027 broadcast have not been announced.
