Amala Debuts Live Vocals at YouTube Music Weekend, Announces 'Gum' Single

Vocaloid producer and artist Amala performed live vocals for the first time during the global YouTube Music Weekend event on August 22. The performance, now permanently available on YouTube, featured a band arrangement of existing songs and debuted the new track 'Gum'.

The setlist included 'ADAM', '俯瞰症', and 'ぽい', all originally released with Vocaloid vocals. The performance concluded with 'Gum', which will be released digitally worldwide on August 28. During the song, Amala introduced the band members.

Following the stream, Amala published their first official artist photograph and confirmed plans for more live vocal performances in the future. The artist stated this move is not a departure from Vocaloid production but an expansion of their musical expression.

In a statement, Amala reflected on a 24-year relationship with music, citing a long-held desire to sing. "It's not so much a new challenge," they wrote, "but more like the feeling of going back to pick up something I left behind a long time ago."

Amala gained recognition after their song 'アリフレーション' won a runner-up prize in the Hatsune Miku "Magical Mirai 2025" contest. Their track 'ダイダイダイダイダイキライ' has surpassed 60 million views on YouTube.
