Clean Bandit launch new label with Biig Piig single 'I Don't Wanna Hurt You'

Clean Bandit have released a new single featuring Biig Piig. The track, "I Don't Wanna Hurt You," is the first release from the group's newly formed independent label, CB X.

"It's a very introspective song," Biig Piig said. "It's about ending a relationship, and the turmoil of knowing it's the right thing to do, even when it's difficult." She described the track as a place where music "holds me and gives me a way to express what I can't put into words."

Clean Bandit's Jack Patterson traveled to Cornwall by overnight train to write with her. "We wrote the song together in a library with a fireplace," he said. "I was drawn to the fragility and strength in the lyrics and wanted the music to reflect that duality."

The group handled the script, direction, filming, and production of the official music video themselves. It was shot earlier this year on a farm outside London and at their North London studio.

"Romantic love can feel like fire," Patterson said of the video's concept. "It consumes, dominates, and can vanish as quickly as it appeared. The video captures something scorching that leaves its mark and moves on, with things settling back into place—a little smoky, a little charred, but intact."

Clean Bandit's Grace Chatto produced the string arrangement. She noted a "slightly crazy synth part" where "all the pitches are shifting, creating chords that don't really exist," an idea she linked to the 20th-century composer Iannis Xenakis.

The track was recorded at Clean Bandit's London studio, produced by Jack Patterson, Parks, and Rob Late, with additional production from Grace Chatto.

"I Don't Wanna Hurt You" is available on global streaming platforms. A lyric video is also available on YouTube.
