Diamond no Ace Returns with New Season, MLB Players Discuss Anime's Impact

The baseball anime Diamond no Ace returns with actII -Second Season- on April 5, 2026. The new season will stream on Netflix immediately after its Japanese broadcast.

Ahead of the premiere, TV Tokyo will air a special program on April 4 featuring interviews with five professional baseball stars.

The players are Yuki Yanagita (Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks), Kenta Maeda (Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles), Kodai Senga (New York Mets), Masanori Ishikawa (Tokyo Yakult Swallows), and Yoshitomo Tsutsugo (Yokohama DeNA BayStars). Voice actor Ryota Ohsaka, who plays protagonist Eijun Sawamura, provides narration.

Yanagita stated the anime's slugger, Raichi Todoroki, influenced his batting style. Maeda and Senga also connected their playing styles to characters in the series. Veteran pitcher Ishikawa said he wanted to throw a pitch like Sawamura's.

The special, "Sports Real & Live Emergency Project: Pro Baseball Star Players' Origin! Delving into the Charm of 'Diamond no Ace'!" airs April 4 at 11:00 PM JST on TV Tokyo and its affiliate stations.

Diamond no Ace actII -Second Season- begins broadcast April 5 at 5:30 PM JST on TV Tokyo and AT-X. Netflix will carry the series for international audiences. The opening theme is "Let's Go Crazy" by Baby Canta, and the ending theme is "NUMBER" by SUPER★DRAGON.

The anime is based on Yuji Terajima's manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine. It follows pitcher Eijun Sawamura as he joins the elite Seido High School baseball team to compete for a national championship.
