Higurashi Anime Marks 20th Anniversary with Special Stream

The anime adaptation of Ryukishi07's Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry) will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. A commemorative special program will stream on Sunday, June 21.

The special will feature voice actors Soichiro Hoshi (Keiichi Maebara) and Mai Nakahara (Rena Ryugu), with MC Taro Tenshin.

The program will be available via YouTube Live on the KADOKAWAanimeCH channel and on the Japanese platform Niconico Live.

Additionally, a marathon stream of the complete anime series will be held over two weekends. All episodes of the original series and its sequel Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai will stream free on Niconico Live from June 13-14 and June 20-21.

The anniversary special streams at 8:30 PM JST on June 21. The marathon streams begin at 7:00 PM JST on their respective dates.
