Hip-Hop Anime 'Shadow Beat' Releases New Track 'ku lata' with Neibiss and DJ Mitsu the Beats

The hip-hop short anime series Shadow Beat releases its seventh track, "ku lata," on July 24. The song features MC Neibiss on vocals, with production by DJ Mitsu the Beats. It will be distributed worldwide via PCI MUSIC.

The series, a collaborative project between Plott and Shogakukan's CoroCoro Comic editorial department, follows a group of overlooked students who express their inner struggles through lo-fi hip-hop. Each track is tied to the anime's storyline.

"ku lata" is inspired by the plot of the series' seventh episode, where the protagonists compete in a rap battle called KINGS MIC.

Neibiss is a duo consisting of ratiff and hyunis1000, formed in Kobe in 2018. They have performed at events like dongurizu's "COME ON" and featured on tofubeats' 2022 track "don't like u."

DJ Mitsu the Beats, a producer and DJ known for his work with the group GAGLE, has contributed multiple tracks to the Shadow Beat series, including "Teen spirits" and "Blue Flame."

A music video for "ku lata" will premiere on the official Shadow Beat YouTube channel on July 25 at 5:00 PM JST.

The song is available for streaming via PCI MUSIC. The Shadow Beat project is available on its official YouTube channel and X (formerly Twitter).
