New Cast Announced for Upcoming Anime 'Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo'

The anime adaptation of Konno Akira's award-winning manga Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo (When Kujima Sings, the House Goes to Ruin) has revealed its third wave of cast members. The series is scheduled to premiere in April 2026.

Voice actress Hieda Nene will play the role of Mitsugi Makoto, the childhood friend of the protagonist, Shinta Koda. Makoto is described as a bright and caring middle school student.

In comments provided with the announcement, Hieda Nene described the series as funny and heartwarming. She noted that the mysterious creature Kujima's pure reactions to everyday life reminded her of childhood. For her role, she aimed to portray Makoto as slightly more mature than her friend Shinta.

The series is a surreal home comedy about a strange creature named Kujima who moves in with the slightly tense Koda family, gradually changing their relationships. The original manga won the U-NEXT Award in the 2022 Next Manga Awards.

Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo is set to begin broadcasting in April 2026 on Japanese channels including TOKYO MX and MBS. It will also stream on U-NEXT and Anime Hodai.
