New 'Kochikame' Anime Reveals Cast and Staff for 2027 Reboot

The new anime project for the legendary manga 'Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo' (Kochikame) has revealed its main cast and staff. The reboot, titled 'Shin Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo', is set to broadcast on Fuji TV and stream on various platforms in 2027.

Fukushi Ochiai will voice the eccentric, money-loving officer Ryotsu Kankichi. Shouta Aoi is cast as the wealthy and handsome Nakagawa Keiichi. M・A・O will play the gentle officer Reiko Akimoto. Ryoko Sakamoto takes on the role of the station chief, Ohara Daijiro.

Director Akitaro Daichi, known for works like 'Fruits Basket' and 'Kodocha', will helm the project. The staff includes character designer and chief animation director Kenichi Hara, and composer Shunsuke Kikuchi.

A promotional video featuring the new character voices and a key visual were also released. The PV shows the updated animation style for the classic characters.

Ochiai called it a "miraculous time" to voice a character from an anime he watched as a child.

The anime is produced by Gallop. It commemorates the 50th anniversary of the original manga's serialization, which began in 1976 and ran for 40 years.
