Spotify Stage returns to SUMMER SONIC for fourth year with expanded lineup

Spotify will operate a dedicated stage at SUMMER SONIC Tokyo for the fourth consecutive year. The festival expands to three days for its 25th anniversary, running August 14-16 at Makuhari Messe.

The core program is RADAR: Early Noise. Fourteen acts from that initiative will perform across the three days.

PEOPLE 1, nishina, kurayamisaka, luv, and OddRe: are among the RADAR artists scheduled. Each festival day will also feature a takeover slot from a different playlist.

The .ORG playlist, focusing on Japanese and Asian indie sounds, takes over on August 14. J-HipHop playlist +81 Connect follows on August 15. The Gacha Pop playlist, showcasing diverse Japanese pop culture, closes the stage on August 16.

A special Altar JP After Hours segment will run on the evening of August 15.

August 15: RADAR: Early Noise Special with luv, OddRe:, S.A.R., Litty. +81 Connect Live with Kohjiya, MIKADO, 7. Altar JP After Hours with Verses GT, Pasokon Music Club, Dungeoneering, FULLHOUSE.

August 16: RADAR: Early Noise Special with PEOPLE 1, nishina, Meiyo Densetsu, Maverick Mom, OSHIKIKEIGO. Gacha Pop Live with yama, HALCALI, NOMELON NOLEMON.

Spotify launched a retrospective content series, "5x5 Years of SUMMER SONIC." It includes five playlists, each covering a five-year block from the festival's 2000 debut through 2026.

A companion video podcast features festival organizer Naoki Shimizu and main stage MC Sasha discussing each era. The first episode, covering 2000-2004, is available now. New episodes will be released weekly through May 22.

Text versions of the podcast conversations will be published on Rolling Stone Japan. Edited audio will air on J-WAVE's Golden Week special "WE LOVE SUMMER SONIC" on April 29.
