Tenmaku no Jaadugar Panel Held at Mongolia's ANIMO Festival 2026

The TV anime 'Tenmaku no Jaadugar' (Tent of the Jaadugar) held a special screening and panel event at the ANIMO Festival 2026 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on September 12-13. The event featured TV Asahi producer Kazuki Endo and local Mongolian creators.

The anime is based on the award-winning historical manga by Tomato Soup, set in 13th-century Mongolia. It follows the story of Sitala, a Persian girl who becomes a captive of the Mongol Empire. The series is animated by Science SARU, the studio behind 'Devilman Crybaby' and 'Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!'.

During the panel, producer Kazuki Endo discussed the adaptation. "I felt these themes could reach people not just in Japan, but all over the world," Endo said.

Naranbat.B, a producer at Nomadia Pictures, called it "a wonderful work that shows Mongolia's 13th-century history to the world." Manga artist Erdenebayar.N noted the creators had "properly researched Mongolian history."

Endo detailed the challenges of depicting the period due to scarce historical materials. The team studied old paintings, documents, and consulted experts for details on clothing, dwellings, and daily tools.

A key part of the production involved a location scouting trip to Mongolia. Main staff members visited, including a homestay with a nomadic family. Endo said experiencing daily life, including seeing how livestock dung was used as fuel, directly influenced the animation's details. "The details inside the ger (yurt) are largely adopted," he noted.

The event also screened a message video from director Abel Gongora and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. After viewing the making-of material, Naranbat.B said he was "deeply moved" by seeing how meticulously and passionately the Japanese staff worked.

The first three episodes of the anime were screened at the festival. The series is streaming globally on Crunchyroll (worldwide except Japan and Asia), with other regional platforms including ANIBOX for South Korea and Aniplus Asia for Southeast Asia.
