YOASOBI debuts new song 'Sakihokore' for NHK drama 'Blossom'

YOASOBI will premiere their new song, "Sakihokore," as the theme for the NHK morning drama "Blossom." The track debuts during the show's first episode on September 28 at 8:00 AM JST.

The song is based on a new short story, "Sakura (Hana) no Inochi wa Fumetsu Nari," written by award-winning novelist Risa Wataya. Wataya's story, which serves as the song's source material, will be released digitally at 7:00 AM JST on the same day. The drama "Blossom" is based on the life of author Chiyo Uno.

In comments provided by the duo, composer Ayase described traveling to Uno's hometown in Yamaguchi Prefecture for inspiration. "I felt I should feel the teacher's energy firsthand," Ayase said.

Vocalist ikura said she sang while envisioning the drama's protagonist. "I sang with the feeling of being pushed forward by the song's intensity," she stated.

Novelist Risa Wataya expressed her hope that her story would aid in the song's creation. "I wrote about Uno-sensei's inexhaustible vitality, likening it to a cherry tree," Wataya commented.
